Nasty Pied Piper wanna be - if you have run into this self proclaimed king of the blow pipe you may already know how to beat him but if not and you don't mind a spoiler read on.. I found that after losing all my gear TWICE cause he's a thieving little thingyroach; as soon as you are out of mana, which he drains away every round with his horrid mu-sac version of some obscure Iron Maiden tune .. he makes you slam dance till you are out of health and takes everything you have equipped. On the 3rd encounter I raided naked and stocked up on mana potions. I didn't let my mana drop below 50 and I did in fact punch him to death hitting for about 19 a round. He didn't give my stuff back .. and it was nice stuff too - enchanted plate I had bought at the festival and a magic lance I found in a treasure chest .. I think .. and a ring ...my GOLDEN RING ... MY PRECIOUS .... j/k Enjoy the satyr ;D CKW

Thank for the advice. Just met this interesting thief last night, when I was trying to become dragon slayer (got it, by the way). I just wacked him to death and did not use my magic. YAY!!! Thank you!

Definitely fight this thieving little bastard naked (or wearing gear that can easily be replaced).

Oo! I fought him without troubles (but then my char was primarily a mage) and didn't lose a single item...

Just have enough mind (or carry some mana pots) so he can't pipe you down to 0 mana. If you then deal him enough dam, he usually runs off.

I defeated this nasty critter with major health + mana points + magic sword (which I could afford to lose since I had an earthsplitter). This was the first time I actually killed the satyr! Yay me! ;D

Why bother to kill what you can tame?
If you are of sufficiently high EXP and have even moderate taming skills you just spank his hairy butt and say boo and he runs away without taking anyting.
Sometimes thats the best way to handle the problem...
Like -- you're in year three and you need more jewels for forging magig items but the only place to find 'em is level 2 in rock-monsters, but you keep accumulating sin because for every rock monster there's a dozen assorted goblins and lizards.
Tame everything on level 2 and whack anything that looks like The Thing from fantastic 4 - side benefit: if you have sin, taming instead of killing a beastie can reduce your sin.

OMG!!! I DIDN'T EVEN NEED TO FIGHT THE CENTAUR!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Amzingly enough, instead of the ladder leading down to the 5th floor being in a hallway or dead end, it was in one of those big rooms! You know, these: *Ladder*========== __________________" "------" __________________" " L <-----LADDER TO 5TH FLOOR __________________==____<--------------SATYR
= & " EQUALS WALLS <--- EQUALS ARROWS
I know its random every game. but I am so lucky!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

No Thanks The only way I defeated the dragon was a whole bunch of cheat codes for infinite life and such. He sounds ugly and hard to beat.
P.S.- I actually did see and fight him, but only using cheat codes.(Again!)

Well, it is one way, I am sure. But I personally prefer without cheat code. More challanging that way. If you happen to want to try again the hard way, maybe checking out the dragon part (also in this Dungeon forum). There are a few tips. I like the Barkskin potion the best ^___^

How long does it take to collect/brew/buy ALL of those potions. I hate myself for saying this, but I'm lazy. I don't really want to spend more than 30 minutes looking for this stuff. I also hate the creepiness of the dungeon, even w/out the music.

Hmm, you can only brew it for the necessary quantity. Hard to say how long. I just keep taking cooking class, potion making till I got the option to choose Barkskin. It should be about the same time as you should take to get all the other stats like strength or stamina up. Not that long, really. You can use cheat code for money, so you only have to take lesson to increase stats and brew potions instead of working.
